Sacramento Kitchen Design Video: How to Accessorize Your Kitchen

More than any other room in your home, the kitchen is a place where you need to feel comfortable. Part of that comfort will come from having a well-organized, modern kitchen that makes the all-important job of cooking for your family easy. But another part of that comfort comes from having a kitchen that you actually enjoy spending time in, which is why it is the most common room for people to have remodeled. In most cases, this kitchen design and remodeling job is focused on things like flooring, countertops, appliances, and cabinets. For these jobs, it is vital that you choose a great Sacramento kitchen design contractor. But even once you’ve had all these areas of your kitchen updated, there is still one more task you must accomplish to create the kitchen of your dreams. You must accessorize your kitchen!

Accessorizing your kitchen is where you can really show your personality. You want to stay consistent, keeping to a limited amount of styles and colors so that everything seems to fit a theme. But other than that one rule, you can really go all out to create a room that makes you smile every time you enter. Think of the kitchen as your canvas, and the décor as your paint. If you have shelves above your cabinets, that is a great place to start. You can literally put anything up there that fits your theme. And don’t forget about small spaces such as your windowsills, which can easily be accented. In addition, once you set your theme, you may want to keep your eyes peeled for items that will not only add to the look and feel of your new kitchen design, but also provide an actual use. A good example of this type of item is a cool-looking storage canister for sugar or coffee that sits on your countertop. Simply put, if you like the way something looks, you can normally figure out a creative way to use it to accessorize your kitchen.

TITLE: Design Tips: How to Accessorize Your Kitchen

NARRATION: Hi, I’m Kelli Ellis of Kelli Ellis interiors, and this is how to accessorize your kitchen.

When accessorizing your kitchen and looking for the wow factor, that designer look, you want to think about two things. You want to think about color, and you want to think about theme. So, when you’re thinking about the theme of your kitchen, I’m not talking about “everything is Moroccan, so I need to have a Moroccan kitchen.” Or “everything’s Asian, I’ve gotta have an Asian look, and that’s it.” I’m thinking about the color theme. So, if you’ve got neutral tones, and you’ve added a pop of color, you might want to add that pop of color in your accessories as well. And also think about scale. Now, check this out. You’ve got a lot of room up here, and we’ve got a lot to display. But you’ll notice a mix of things. A mix of finishes. We’ve got shiny. We’ve got wood. We’ve got iron. And there we have the white pop of color. That happens to be the accent that I needed in this kitchen. So remember, when you’re accessorizing your kitchen, and you’re looking for things to give it that wow factor, think about the color, think about the finish, and think about the size. And don’t be afraid of any of it.

Once again, I’m Kelli Ellis, and that was how to accessorize your kitchen.
