Over the past decade or so, many homeowners started to take the environment into account when they decided to remodel their houses. This is a great thing for the world as a whole, as “going green” can truly affect things in a positive way. Using longer-lasting and more sustainable materials and creating a home that runs more efficiently are two of the best ways to work with your Sacramento remodeling contractor to help create a greener home for you and your family. And to top it all off, the right green improvements may actually save you money in the long run.
If you’ve decided to go green on your upcoming remodeling project, the best place to start is with your home’s energy efficiency. There’s no denying that improving your house in this area will have a truly positive effect on the environment. Start by replacing your appliances with greener, more efficient modern appliances. This can be especially helpful with your air conditioner, which is probably the biggest use of energy in your home. Then, have your Sacramento remodeling contractor make sure your home is appropriately sealed and insulated. After that, watch your energy bills plummet! The second item in your home that you might want to replace with a greener substance is your flooring. Try a beautiful, sustainable flooring surface like bamboo or cork. Or if you want something more traditional, the long-lasting nature of natural wood makes it a very green surface.

TITLE: 3 Tips for Going Green
NARRATION: We replaced the insulation in the attic with some new, quite thick stuff, so they liked that. So between windows, and the furnace, the air conditioner, and insulation, we had kind of hit all the big things.
Year before last, for June, July, August, September, and October, our electric bill was around a-hundred-something. This year, and I think it was hotter this year, it was like five-hundred-sixty. So, we did spend less.
When it comes to the flooring, some other common products used to be eco-friendly are bamboo or cork flooring because they regenerate so quickly. Additionally, hardwood floors are still a great option because they last forever and don’t often need to be replaced.
